Our LA "cousin" Ariana Savalas (singing at mic), daughter of late, great actor Telly "Kojak" Savalas, performs at a special GMC event held February 2010 at the Signature Room on the Hancock building's 95th floor. Jimmy Damon (in tux) sang a duet with Ariana. Here he relinquishes the mic for an Ariana solo. This Summer (2011), she released her debut album "Kingdom," a hybrid of pop with a heavy jazz influence. She's also an actress, with a 2011 guest appearance on the hit network legal drama "Criminal Minds," in addition to feature roles in independent films

At center is our "cousin" Sharon Tyk and to Sharon's left is actor Gary Sinise, star of network TV's "CSI:NY." His former co-star is Melina Kanakaredes. Sharon is a longtime AT&T government relations exec who worked closely with Sinise to help raise $1 million for the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, and the two continue to collaborate on various projects with Sinise and his "Lt. Dan Band," a tribute touring pop music act which raises funds benefiting the USO and military personnel in general. Sinise, who co-founded Chicago's famous Steppenwolf Theatre, played the role of "Lt. Dan" in the blockbuster Hollywood epic "Forest Gump," starring Tom Hanks (Philhellene "cousin")

Jimmy is a local legend singer who's recognized nationally and was the subject of a 2010 PBS documentary. His penchant for all-things-Sinatra got him an endorsement from Frank Sinatra himself, who made Jimmy the ONLY singer worldwide to be officially authorized by Sinatra to sing the music of the now late legend crooner during Sinatra's illustrious lifetime

The Greek Media Club logo at right, designed by our "cousin" Anastasia Athans-Stothoff, owner of Insight Design Solutions. Accentuating the Greek key in conjunction with the simplistic sensibility of lower case g and c. Anastasia graciously offered her services gratis for the cause. Pretty snazzy, if we may thump our chests for one brief moment. The logo was inspired by 1) The very first form of written media (a stone carving, ours done in marble for Greco-Romanistic effect) and 2) The ancient Greeks, whose public square was the first organized gathering place for the unencumbered exchange of free thought and concepts extolling individuality and entrepreneurial spirit, which ultimately led to an explosion in Western culture, the rule of law, and the modern free world we now inhabit

GMC co-director Terry Poulos at the British Museum in London (October 2011) standing next to a scale model of the (intact) Parthenon. Flanking him on the side walls are the original Parthenon Marbles, all-too-commonly referred to by most media (in modern times) as the quote "Elgin Marbles." In ancient times, these works of intricate, ornate art used to adorn the outer rim just under the Parthenon's roof (called the Frieze). After centuries of war and strife, these masterpieces were pillaged and later sold on the oft-unregulated global antiquities market, ultimately winding up in the possession of Lord Elgin of England. There has been a large-scale effort during the past few years to have the marbles returned to their rightful home. The marbles tell an elaborate story, hence their mention here as "media"
